ADDIS ABABA - October 29, 2024 (NIPN-Ethiopia) - A two-day experience sharing event was held here between the NIPN-Ethiopia and NIPN-Zambia to exchange learning. Organized by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) after the recently held the 6th NIPN-Global Gathering last week, the event was believed to provide valuable opportunity for the two countries to learn from each other.
NIPN-Ethiopia Coordinator, Dr. Aregash Samuel, said that the request on experience sharing, forwarded by GIZ, was accepted gladly by NIPN-Ethiopia as both sides benefit from each other’s strengths and weaknesses. “It is a privilege for us to share our many years’ experience in achieving the goals and objectives of NIPN-Ethiopia. Although NIPN-Zambia is relatively new, we have seen that it is equipped with skilled and energetic professionals who will accomplish much to meet their goals,” Dr. Aregash said.
She further stated that team members from NIPN-Ethiopia have shared their experiences openly without any reservation. “We faced challenges to reach here. The team from NIPN-Ethiopia has achieved a lot through experience. We are here to share our experience with our brothers and sisters in a positive way,” she said.
Experts from NIPN-Ethiopia, GIZ, and the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) have explained the policy questions formulation, how the questions are gathered, and how they are analyzed. They also addressed the challenges they faced and how they overcame them. The team from NIPN-Ethiopia discussed and demonstrated in detail the data analysis process, the establishment of the dashboard on NIPN-Website, performances of the communication unit.
Team members from NIPN-Zambia expressed their appreciation for the willingness of the NIPN-Ethiopia team to share their experiences. NIPN-Zambia team also presented the accomplishments achieved so far.
Coordinator of NIPN-Ethiopia, Dr. Aregash Samuel, expressed her gratitude at last to the GIZ for organizing the discussion platform that brought together experts from the two NIPN member countries. She also extended appreciation to IFPRI for the technical support it has been providing.
Seventeen participants from NIPN-Zambia, NIPN-Ethiopia, and the global C4N team including an advisor for Niger, attended the two-day experience-sharing event held at Hyatt Regency Hotel in Addis Ababa. (NIPN-Ethiopia)
